Dear St. Thomas the Apostle families,
Thank you to all families that reached out today. We have heard overwhelming feedback from parents about the importance of in-person learning that clearly was in conflict with our survey results, and that has caused us to re-evaluate our initial decision. We understand that families made the decision to send their children to STA to participate in in-person instruction and understand the sacrifices needed to keep our STA community safe. The Archdiocese is still asking that we make adjustments to our current in-person learning schedule, therefore STA is going to have early release days on Wednesday and Friday during the month of December.
We strongly encourage families to make necessary arrangements for students to participate in e-learning during the three weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas break.
We can only continue in-person learning if all of our families make responsible decisions that ensure the safety of our community. Families should avoid traveling and large gatherings. Families who do this should quarantine and keep their child home for two weeks. If families do not cooperate, we may be forced to switch to only remote learning
Any student that is traveling must follow the City of Chicago’s travel restrictions. These necessary protocols ensure the safety of students and staff alike.
For families that are unable to make arrangements for their students to participate in e-learning, we will continue with in-person learning. We will adjust our schedule to have 2 early release days each week. On Wednesday and Friday, students will be dismissed early from school. Please see below for dismissal times:
Wednesday & Friday Dismissal for December
Pre-K & K - 2:00-2:15 pm
1st & 2nd - 2:15-2:30 pm
3rd, 4th & 5th - 2:30-2:45 pm
6th, 7th & 8th - 2:45-3:00 pm
We will provide additional information, as necessary, through this temporary adjustment.
I hope all enjoy a safe and happy Thanksgiving.
Sincerely yours,
Ms. Monahan
